| Death | 1881 | Singapore1 |
| Note | A letter written by Sarah's brother from Singapore to the couple in Perth wrote a glowing account of the wealth that could be made in the Crown Colony. he affered to pay their expenses there. Thomas flatly refused but Sarah was determined to go. When the money arrived, she set sail with her 2 daughters Elizabeth and Maria possibly hoping Thomas would change his mind later. When Sarah and the girls left it was 1861. George was 9 and Joseph 6. Only once did she return to the colony in the 1870's, but only for a short visit to see her children. On her arrival in Singapore, her brother advanced her money to start a hospital from which she earned sufficient money to buy an hotel. She was well set up in life up to her death in 1881. |
